Final FMP outcome from foundation degree art and design
For my final outcome and first major costume project in 2022 I created a costume based on an exploration and experimentation with the history of glam-rock, gender expression and performance for a hypothetical 70s/80s revival installation piece. This project was the final response to an exploration of maximalism, drag, cabaret and rock and roll - looking at a range of fashion inspiration from artists like Leigh Bowery, comedian absurdist Emilia Fart to Todd Haynes’ 1998 Velvet Goldmine and the influences of David Bowie. This was my first taste for create costume making and the start of my love for making for movement and performance, designing with heightened colour, pattern and texture.
